Bengaluru : A team of students, artificial intelligence (AI) technicians, and oral pathologists at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences in Bengaluru has developed cutting-edge software for the automatic detection and inspection of jaw cysts. This innovative approach has led to the filing of three separate Indian patents.
Funded by the Indian government’s Science and Engineering Research Grants Board through the POWR initiative, this research project aims to revolutionize early detection methods for jaw cysts. The software utilizes advanced AI technology to facilitate prompt identification, enabling dentists to make informed decisions regarding treatment options.
Dr. Rupa S. Rao, Professor of Oral Pathology at Ramaiah University, highlighted the significance of early detection in treating jaw cysts and emphasized that despite surgical removal, these cysts can recur. The development is expected to pave the way for individualized treatment strategies based on technological insights.
This breakthrough is a testament to the collaborative efforts between academia and technology experts as they strive to improve medical diagnostics and patient care.
