Bengaluru: The Rotary Club of Bangalore is set to host the ‘RCB International Film Festival for a Cause — 3.0’, featuring screenings of seven international films along with regional Indian cinema, while focusing on empowering women from marginalised backgrounds.
The two-day festival will be held on April 11 and 12 at Khincha Hall Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, bringing together cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers and aspiring learners.
Focus on skill development for women
The primary objective of the festival is to train women from underprivileged communities in various technical aspects of filmmaking. Organisers said the initiative aims to create opportunities for participants to learn storytelling techniques and develop skills required in the film industry.
As part of the programme, noted film critic and artistic director Vidyashankar N will conduct training sessions on scriptwriting, storytelling and dialogue writing.
These sessions are designed to equip participants with foundational knowledge and practical insights into filmmaking, enabling them to explore creative careers.
Diverse international film screenings
The festival will showcase seven films from countries including Vietnam, Iran, Kazakhstan and Bhutan, offering audiences exposure to diverse cinematic styles and narratives from across the world.
In addition to international entries, regional Indian films will also be screened, highlighting local talent and storytelling traditions.
Organisers believe that such a mix of global and regional cinema will enrich the learning experience for participants and provide a broader understanding of filmmaking techniques.
Platform for social impact
The ‘RCB International Film Festival for a Cause’ is part of a larger effort by the Rotary Club of Bangalore to use cinema as a tool for social change. By combining film screenings with skill-building workshops, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between creativity and opportunity.
The festival also aims to foster inclusivity by encouraging participation from women who may not otherwise have access to formal training in filmmaking.
Event details
The event will run from 9 am to 7 pm on both days at the venue located on Race Course Road. Interested participants and attendees can find more details through the official website of the organisers.
Conclusion
By blending global cinema with hands-on training, the festival offers a unique platform for learning and empowerment. The initiative is expected to inspire aspiring women filmmakers while promoting cultural exchange and creative expression in Bengaluru.
