The planets will align along the ecliptic plane, according to Chrisphin Karthick, a scientist at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics.
He clarified, however, that the planets are not exactly in a straight line. The director of Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru, B.R. Guruprasad, claims that Venus is the brightest planet and will appear as a white dot.
Saturn will be visible, Jupiter will shine as a bright white dot, and Mars will have a rare reddish hue. According to Vijay Kapoor, the founder of the Bangalore Astronomy Club, those who intend to observe the event through binoculars will be able to see Jupiter’s four moons.
On the other hand, viewing Uranus and Neptune requires a telescope. According to Guruprasad, Mercury will soon join the planetary alignment and become visible on March 8.
Karthick advises watching the alignment at 7:30 p.m., shortly after sunset, for the best viewing experience. He suggests places with unhindered views of the sky that are free of light pollution and tall buildings, like Nandi Hills, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu. To fully appreciate this amazing alignment, clear weather is essential.
