Bengaluru: A road rage incident captured on camera at Madavara Junction on the city’s outskirts has gone viral on social media, showing a biker allegedly blocking a car, threatening the occupants, and damaging the vehicle in a fit of anger. Police said appropriate legal action will be taken and have sought the public’s help in identifying the accused rider.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when a car was travelling from Nelamangala towards Manyata Tech Park. What reportedly began as a minor on-road dispute soon escalated into a confrontation in the middle of traffic.

Video shows biker blocking and attacking car

In the widely circulated video clip, a two-wheeler rider is seen stopping in front of a car and refusing to let it pass. He then approaches the vehicle in an aggressive manner while the occupants remain seated inside.

The biker can be seen smashing the car’s rearview mirror, kicking the vehicle, and allegedly hurling abuses at the driver. The confrontation lasts for a brief period before the rider leaves the spot in anger.

The visuals, recorded by one of the occupants inside the car, show the incident unfolding in real time and have triggered widespread concern online about increasing aggression and unsafe behaviour on Bengaluru roads.

Police say complaint not yet filed

Responding to the viral footage, Bengaluru police confirmed that they are aware of the incident and said action will follow as per law. However, officials noted that the car driver has not yet filed a formal complaint in connection with the episode.

In a public message, police requested citizens to share information that could help trace the biker involved.

“The driver of the car has not filed a complaint yet. No further information has been received. If anyone has information, please contact Police Inspector Madanayakanahalli on 9480802472,” police said in a statement.

Officials indicated that once a complaint is registered, a case can be booked under relevant sections relating to mischief, criminal intimidation, and obstruction, based on available video evidence and witness accounts.

Growing concern over road rage cases

The incident has renewed discussion around rising road rage cases in Bengaluru, especially at busy junctions and highway entry points around the city. Traffic experts say congestion, time pressure, and lack of enforcement against aggressive driving often contribute to such confrontations.

Madavara Junction, located near major highway connectors, sees heavy vehicle movement, including tech corridor traffic, goods vehicles, and intercity commuters. Any sudden stoppage or argument on such stretches can quickly turn risky for other road users as well.

Police have repeatedly advised motorists to avoid engaging in arguments on the road and instead report aggressive behaviour through official helplines or nearby patrol units.

Social media reactions pour in

The viral clip has drawn strong reactions from social media users, many of whom demanded strict punishment for the offender. Several users commented that such behaviour should attract heavy penalties and recovery of damages.

Some users also highlighted the need for more visible police patrols and quicker response systems at high-traffic junctions to deter such incidents.

Cyber and traffic police units are understood to be reviewing the footage and related posts to extract identifying details such as the bike number, route, and time of occurrence.

Conclusion

While no injuries were reported in the Madavara Junction episode, the incident underscores how quickly minor disputes can escalate into dangerous confrontations on public roads. Police have urged the victim to come forward with a complaint and appealed to the public to share credible information to help identify the biker and ensure accountability.
