On November 23, 2024, residents across Bengaluru will experience planned power outages as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) conducts essential maintenance on the city’s power grid. These outages are part of a routine effort to enhance the city’s electricity supply reliability through necessary repairs and upgrades.

The outages will affect neighborhoods in all zones of Bengaluru—North, South, East, West, and Central—beginning in the early morning and lasting up to six hours in some areas. BESCOM’s maintenance work includes upgrades to substations, transformers, and electrical lines.

Affected Areas:

  • North Bangalore: Yelahanka, Hebbal, RT Nagar, Banaswadi, Sanjaynagar, parts of Hennur.
  • South Bangalore: Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Banashankari, Basavanagudi, Padmanabhanagar, parts of Girinagar and Madiwala.
  • East Bangalore: Whitefield, KR Puram, Bellandur, Marathahalli, Mahadevapura, parts of Varthur and Brookefield.
  • West Bangalore: Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar, Magadi Road, Vijayanagar, parts of Chamarajpet and Chikkapete.
  • Central Bangalore: Shanthinagar, Richards Town, parts of the city center including Brigade Road, MG Road, Cunningham Road.

Impact on Residents and Businesses: While these outages are necessary for grid improvements, they are expected to cause inconvenience, particularly for households reliant on electricity for daily activities. Commercial areas like Whitefield, KR Puram, and Malleshwaram, which host a variety of businesses including IT firms, may face disruptions to their operations.
