Ramanagara: The education department has taken action to shift the classes of the Government Urdu Junior Primary School in Gausia Mohalla of the city, which were being run in an open shed, to the nearby Maulana Azad Government English Medium School, as the school building has reached a dilapidated condition.

The 59-year-old school building was on the verge of collapse. Therefore, the teachers used to conduct classes in the open shed within the school premises, regardless of rain and wind. In this regard, ‘Prajavani’ published a special report titled ‘Teaching Children in an Open Shed’ on June 19, drawing attention to the plight of the school.

Following the report, on Wednesday morning, Field Education Officer P. Somalingaiah and Nirmala, Deputy Project Coordination Officer of the Integrated Education Campaign of the Deputy Director’s Office, visited and inspected both buildings. After discussing the issue with teachers and children, they decided to shift them immediately.

Room Reservation:
Two rooms at Maulana School have been allocated for 29 students from the Urdu School. Somalingaiah informed ‘Prajavani’ that classes will be conducted there until new facilities are constructed.

The old dilapidated building has already been demolished, and plans for a new building with three classrooms, a kitchen, and toilets have been included in this year’s action plan by the department. Additionally, corporate companies have been approached to fund the construction of a new school through Corporate Social Responsibility within the district limits.
