A heated argument over seating arrangements on a train travelling between Mysuru and Bengaluru escalated into violence after two people were allegedly stabbed during the incident.
According to railway officials, the clash began following a dispute between passengers over seats inside the train compartment. The argument reportedly intensified, leading to a physical altercation.
Passenger and railway staff injured
During the confrontation, one passenger allegedly attacked another commuter with a sharp weapon. A railway staff member who attempted to intervene and control the situation was also injured in the attack.
Both victims sustained stab injuries and were rushed for medical treatment. Officials said their condition is currently stable.
The accused was later detained, and an investigation has been launched into the incident.
Incident raises safety concerns
The violent episode has triggered concern among regular train passengers, especially those commuting daily on busy Karnataka railway routes.
Passengers and railway users have increasingly raised concerns over overcrowding, seat disputes, and the need for stronger onboard security measures during peak travel hours.
Railway authorities said security personnel are reviewing the incident and necessary legal action will be taken against the accused.
Calls for tighter security on trains
The incident has also renewed discussions about passenger safety on trains operating between major cities in Karnataka.
Commuters said better monitoring, increased railway police presence, and stricter crowd management may help prevent similar situations in the future.
Officials are expected to review CCTV footage and record statements from witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
