A weekend party involving software professionals ended in tragedy after a 27-year-old software engineer was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a farmhouse in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.

The deceased has been identified as Gandla Ramu, a native of Mancherial district who was employed with a software company in Hyderabad.

Weekend celebration turns tragic

According to police, Ramu and around 15 of his colleagues, including their team leader, had gathered at a farmhouse near Choutuppal to celebrate the weekend.

The group reportedly began the gathering on Saturday evening and continued late into the night. After midnight, Ramu was found unconscious in the swimming pool on the premises.

His colleagues immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Injuries on body raise suspicion

Police who arrived at the scene shifted the body for postmortem examination and began a preliminary investigation.

During the inquiry, investigators reportedly noticed injuries on Ramu’s body, prompting suspicion over the circumstances surrounding his death.

The absence of CCTV cameras at the farmhouse has made it difficult for investigators to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

Family alleges murder

Based on a complaint filed by Ramu’s father, G. Anjaiah, police have registered a murder case and launched a detailed investigation.

Family members have alleged that Ramu may have been murdered, citing the injuries found on his body and seeking a thorough probe into the incident.

Investigators are currently recording statements from all those who attended the party and examining multiple angles to determine what transpired before the engineer was found in the pool.

Police awaiting forensic findings

Choutuppal police said the exact cause of death will be known only after the postmortem and forensic examination reports are received.

Officials have stressed that all possibilities are being explored and that no conclusions will be drawn until scientific evidence is analysed.

The case has drawn attention in Hyderabad’s technology community, with many awaiting clarity on the circumstances behind the young engineer’s untimely death.
