A devastating crash on the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway claimed one life and left ten others injured on Tuesday night. The incident took place near Lambani Tandya Gate in Channapatna around 8 PM.
According to police, a high-speed sedan heading towards Mysuru suddenly lost control, jumped the central median, and ploughed into two cars traveling towards Bengaluru. The violent impact caused severe damage to the vehicles and triggered panic among other commuters.
The deceased, yet to be identified, was a passenger in one of the Bengaluru-bound cars. All injured individuals were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The condition of a few remains critical, sources say.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports indicate rash and negligent driving by the sedan’s driver. The incident disrupted traffic flow and raised fresh concerns about speeding on the newly built access-controlled highway.
