Bengaluru: A final-year degree student was found dead after allegedly sending a message to her boyfriend stating that she intended to end her life, prompting an investigation by the police into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The deceased has been identified as Tejaswi, a student of a private college in Chikkabanavara. According to the police, she left her college on Monday afternoon and later sent a message to her boyfriend indicating that she planned to end her life.

Boyfriend alerted family after receiving message

On receiving the message, the boyfriend immediately informed Tejaswi’s family. Her mother then approached the Sadashivanagar police, who launched a search operation along with the family to trace the student.

Her body was recovered in the early hours of Tuesday. During the preliminary investigation, police found that Tejaswi had visited a bakery after leaving college before the tragic incident.

Police probe all possible angles

Investigators revealed that an issue had reportedly arisen at her college around two weeks ago, allegedly linked to her relationship with her boyfriend. As part of the ongoing investigation, the boyfriend is being questioned to establish the sequence of events leading to her death.

Police are also examining CCTV footage, recording statements from those connected to the case, and verifying all available evidence.

“We are investigating every angle of the case, including the events leading up to the incident. We are recording statements from those concerned, examining CCTV footage, and carrying out further inquiries as part of the investigation,” a police officer said.

The Sadashivanagar police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation. The exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be established.
