Bengaluru: Swiggy Instamart has partnered with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to launch on-demand LPG cylinder delivery in Bengaluru, becoming the first quick-commerce platform in India to offer the service.
Announced on Wednesday, the initiative enables customers to order HP Gas cylinders directly through the Instamart app, with Bengaluru becoming the first city where the service has been rolled out.
Two LPG cylinder options available
Under the partnership, customers can order HPCL’s newly launched 10-kg HP Navya composite LPG cylinder as well as the traditional 5-kg metal LPG cylinder through the Instamart app.
The companies said customers do not need an existing domestic LPG connection to purchase these cylinders, making the service particularly useful for people who have recently moved to a new city or require an LPG connection immediately.
How the service works
For first-time purchases, customers will be required to complete identity verification and submit the necessary delivery-related documents.
For subsequent refill orders, customers must hand over their empty HPCL cylinder to the delivery personnel at the time of receiving the replacement cylinder.
Swiggy said all deliveries will be fulfilled through HPCL’s authorised distributor network, with trained delivery personnel following all prescribed safety and regulatory guidelines.
HP Navya cylinder offers added convenience
The 10-kg HP Navya composite cylinder is designed to be lighter than conventional steel cylinders, making it easier to carry and handle.
Its transparent body allows users to monitor the amount of LPG remaining, while its rust-proof fibreglass construction enhances durability and reduces the risk of corrosion.
Partnership aims to improve LPG accessibility
Swiggy Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha said the collaboration extends the platform’s convenience-driven services beyond groceries while maintaining high safety standards.
HPCL Director (Marketing) Amit Garg said the partnership would improve access to LPG through a digitally enabled platform without compromising the safety, reliability and trust associated with HP Gas.
The companies indicated that the service could be expanded to more cities in the future based on customer response.
