A tragic incident occurred on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Sunday, resulting in the death of 13-year-old Sai Bhavani, a resident of Sulibele village and a student of a pre-matric school in Hoskote. Bhavani was electrocuted after coming into contact with a live wire while using a metal-handled stick to pluck mangoes. His 10-year-old younger brother sustained burn injuries in the accident.
A police officer explained that Bhavani made contact with an 11 KV high-tension wire, causing his death on the spot. His younger brother, who was nearby, also suffered injuries. The police have registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) for the case.
In a related incident last week, 29-year-old labourer Bipul Kumar was electrocuted at an under-construction site in Bengaluru’s Kadugodi. The contractor, Chenaram Kumawat, was arrested under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, following allegations of inadequate safety measures. Kumawat was later released on station bail.
