Bengaluru: Residents in parts of north Bengaluru have been urged to remain vigilant after a series of domestic LPG cylinder thefts allegedly carried out by two men travelling in an autorickshaw.
The accused have reportedly targeted homes in Guni Agrahara and Lakshmipura in Bengaluru North taluk, stealing more than 10 LPG cylinders in recent days.
Thieves strike in broad daylight and at night
According to residents, the suspects arrive in an autorickshaw and boldly enter residential premises without attracting attention. They allegedly open house gates, remove LPG cylinders and flee within moments.
The thefts have been reported during both daytime and nighttime, raising concerns over the growing audacity of the criminals.
CCTV captures thefts
The entire operation has been captured on CCTV cameras installed in the affected neighbourhoods. The footage reportedly shows two men quickly entering properties, lifting the cylinders and escaping in the waiting autorickshaw.
Residents say the incidents have left many households worried, prompting calls for increased police patrols and stronger neighbourhood vigilance.
Police register case
A case has been registered at the Soladevanahalli Police Station, and an investigation is underway to identify and trace the suspects using CCTV footage and other available evidence.
Police are expected to examine surveillance footage from surrounding areas to determine whether the same gang is involved in similar thefts reported elsewhere.
Residents have been advised to keep gates locked, store LPG cylinders in secure locations and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police.
