Bengaluru rural police are hunting for a four-member gang that fled with ₹30.2 lakh after breaking into an SBI ATM in Sulibele, near Hoskote, around 3:15 am on Saturday.
Disguised in bedsheets and with red towels covering their faces, the gang forced open the shutter and stormed the kiosk. As soon as they entered, they sprayed black paint on the CCTV camera to avoid identification.
“They used a gas cutter to break open the ATM, targeting the exact section where cash is stored—indicating a professional approach,” said C K Baba, SP, Bengaluru rural. Police suspect the gang had conducted a recce beforehand, given their swift execution and ability to evade detection.
The criminals arrived in an SUV, and while clear footage of their faces is unavailable, police have obtained clips showing their movements and vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, with teams analyzing surveillance footage and tracing possible escape routes.
