In a fatal crash early Thursday morning, three Bachelor of Science (BSc) students lost their lives after colliding with a heavy vehicle on Bengaluru’s airport road. The accident took place on the Chikkajala flyover leading to Ballari at around 1:30 am, according to the police.
The victims, identified as Suchith, Rohith, and Harsha, were fourth-year BSc Agriculture students from Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra (GKVK), aged 22-23. Police reports indicate that the trio was riding towards Bengaluru when their two-wheeler struck the rear of a heavy goods vehicle.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Suchith, who was operating the motorcycle, attempted to change lanes at a high speed, leading to the crash. The heavy vehicle involved fled the scene, and authorities are still searching for the driver.
The accident occurred when five friends had gone for an outing, with two others riding on a separate bike at the time of the incident.
The Chikkajala traffic police have registered a case under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as the investigation continues.
