Doctors at a private hospital in Bengaluru successfully treated a one-year-nine-month-old child who suffered severe brain and lung injuries following a road accident.

The toddler, identified as Vihaan S. Jithin, was admitted in critical condition with multiple life-threatening injuries and later developed a multidrug-resistant infection during treatment.

Child required prolonged intensive care

According to doctors, the child needed nearly a month of specialised paediatric critical care, including prolonged ventilator support, repeated respiratory procedures, and neurological rehabilitation.

Medical teams worked continuously to stabilise his breathing and manage complications arising from the infection and traumatic injuries.

Long recovery process

Doctors said Vihaan initially struggled with basic functions due to the severity of the injuries. Intensive rehabilitation and close monitoring were required to help him gradually regain strength and mobility.

After weeks of treatment, the child reportedly recovered the ability to breathe independently, eat normally, and eventually walk again.

Doctors highlight importance of critical care

Medical experts said the case reflected the importance of timely trauma care, multidisciplinary treatment, and rehabilitation support in severe paediatric injury cases.

The successful recovery has drawn appreciation for the healthcare team’s efforts and offered hope to many families dealing with critical medical emergencies involving children.
