Bengaluru: In view of the annual feast and chariot procession of St Mary’s Basilica on Friday, the city traffic police have announced restrictions in the Shivajinagar area. The measures will be in effect from 3 pm to 9 pm to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety.

Key road closures

  • Vehicular movement will be prohibited from Jyoti Café, Broadway Road to Russell Market.
  • Dharmaraja Temple Street towards Russell Market Taj Circle will remain closed.
  • From 2 pm onwards, vehicles, including BMTC buses, coming from BRV Junction on Cubbon Road and Balekundri Circle to Shivajinagar bus stand will be halted.

Diversions for buses and two-wheelers

  • BMTC buses from Anil Kumble Junction must take a left at BRV Junction and proceed via CTO – Queen’s Circle – MG Road.
  • Two-wheelers can turn right at BRV Central Street and move via Safina Plaza towards Kamaraj Road.
  • They may also proceed via BRV Central Street towards VSN Road via Ramada Hotel.

Parking restrictions

Parking will not be allowed in the following areas:

  • Russell Market
  • Broadway Road
  • Meenakshi Koil Street
  • Central Street
  • Shivajinagar Road
  • Cunningham Road (Balekundri Circle to Chandrika Hotel Junction)
  • Union Street
  • Infantry Road
  • Cubbon Road
  • Hospital Road
  • Lady Curzon Road
  • VSN Road
  • MG Road
  • Rear side of Ramada Hotel (old Congress office)

Alternative parking facility

Commuters are advised to use the Kamaraj Road parking lot, located opposite the Army School, Main Guard Cross.
