A seven-year-old boy from Sarjapur, on Bengaluru’s southeastern outskirts, was tragically discovered lifeless in a pond roughly a kilometer from his home, police confirmed on Friday.

The child, Elvin, who resided in Matnahalli near Sarjapur, vanished on Thursday afternoon. His worried parents lodged a missing person report later that day, prompting authorities to initiate a search.

Early Friday morning, officers from the Sarjapur police station found Elvin’s bicycle and footwear abandoned near a small pond in Matnahalli. Fearing he may have accidentally drowned, a search of the water body was conducted. Shortly thereafter, his lifeless body was recovered.

Initial findings suggest that Elvin was riding his bicycle without his parents’ awareness when he inadvertently fell into the pond. Authorities, however, are still investigating the exact events that led to the tragedy.

The missing person complaint filed by Elvin’s family has been reclassified as a case of unnatural death. Further inquiries aim to shed light on the circumstances of this heartbreaking incident.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of ensuring children’s safety near hazardous areas.
