A gruesome triple murder has shocked Bengaluru after a couple and their 19-year-old daughter were found stabbed to death inside their apartment in the city’s eastern suburbs. Police have launched a manhunt for the victims’ elder daughter and her boyfriend, who are suspected of involvement in the crime.
The victims have been identified as Somasundar (55), his wife Muthulakshmi (48), and their younger daughter Supriya (19).
Police suspect elder daughter and boyfriend
According to police, the prime suspects are the couple’s elder daughter, Shwetha, and her boyfriend Kenneth, who were reportedly in a live-in relationship. Investigators believe the family had opposed their relationship, leading to tensions within the household.
The accused are currently absconding, and multiple police teams have been deployed to trace their whereabouts.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Saidulu Adavath said efforts are underway to locate the suspects and that more details would be shared as the investigation progresses.
Murders may have followed family dispute
The incident occurred at Sai Green Apartment in Dhamanik Layout, Seegehalli, under the jurisdiction of the KR Puram police station.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Shwetha and Kenneth visited the apartment on Monday when Muthulakshmi was alone at home. Police suspect an argument broke out, following which she was allegedly attacked with a machete-like weapon.
Investigators believe the accused then cleaned the crime scene before Somasundar and Supriya returned home. The younger daughter was allegedly attacked next, while Somasundar was reportedly assaulted after attempting to intervene.
Police sources said Somasundar managed to run out of the apartment and seek help before succumbing to his injuries.
Debt angle under investigation
Investigators have also discovered that Shwetha was reportedly burdened with debts amounting to nearly ₹30 lakh. Police are examining whether disputes over these financial liabilities may have contributed to the crime.
Officials are probing whether the murders were premeditated and the extent of each suspect’s involvement.
Search operation continues
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further forensic analysis is underway. Police confirmed that one person has been detained in connection with the case, though details have not yet been disclosed.
The shocking incident has left residents of the apartment complex and the surrounding locality stunned, as investigators continue to piece together the exact sequence of events.
