Police have detained two men in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old woman, whose body was discovered inside an autorickshaw in Tilaknagar on Saturday evening.

The victim, identified as Salma, a domestic worker and mother of four residing in the Ragigudda slum, was found with severe head and neck injuries on the back seat of a parked vehicle — barely 300 metres from the Tilaknagar police station.

Passersby who noticed her motionless inside the autorickshaw alerted the authorities.

Victim lived alone after husband’s death

Police said Salma had been living alone since her husband’s death a few years ago. Preliminary investigation suggests that the assailants were known to her.

The Tilaknagar police have detained Subramani, reportedly her lover, and his friend Senthil in connection with the case.

Murder linked to personal dispute

According to officials, the two men allegedly killed Salma at Subramani’s residence after suspecting she had developed a relationship with another man. They then placed her body inside an autorickshaw and left it parked near the police station to mislead investigators.

The duo is currently being interrogated, and police are verifying their statements. Investigators are also tracing leads using the autorickshaw’s registration details to determine the full sequence of events.

Ongoing investigation

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police are awaiting the forensic report. Authorities said further arrests are likely as more evidence is gathered.

A senior officer from the Bengaluru Police Commissionerate said, “We are verifying the accused’s version and checking CCTV footage from nearby areas to confirm the timeline of the crime.”
