The Bengaluru police have arrested two more individuals for allegedly harassing and abusing Kannada actor and former MP Ramya (Divya Spandana) on social media.
The suspects, identified as Adarsha and Sanjay, are residents of Udupi. Investigators are currently probing which of their social media accounts were used to post the abusive messages targeting the actor.
With these arrests, the total number of people held in connection with the case has risen to nine.
Ramya had lodged a complaint on July 28 with Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, alleging that she was subjected to a wave of trolling and vulgar comments after she made a post about the Supreme Court proceedings in the Renukaswmay murder case. The case has drawn significant public attention as actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is among the accused.
Following her complaint, Commissioner Singh directed the matter to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for a detailed investigation. Officials said the probe aims to track down all individuals involved in spreading abusive content against Ramya and ensure accountability.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing issue of online harassment against women, especially public figures, and the challenges in tackling cyber abuse effectively.
Police sources confirmed that further arrests are likely as the investigation continues to identify others behind the abusive posts.
