A brawl erupted between two passengers inside Bengaluru’s Namma Metro, with the altercation quickly escalating to blows. The incident, captured on video, spread rapidly online. Despite the intense situation, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has yet to issue a statement.
In the footage, the two men, speaking in Kannada, began by hurling abuses at each other before their argument turned physical. The packed metro coach saw fellow passengers intervening, attempting to separate the fighters and urging them to resolve their dispute outside the station. The cause of the conflict remains unknown.
Reactions online were mixed. Some users noted the commendable efforts of co-passengers to de-escalate the fight, contrasting it with the typically passive responses in similar incidents, particularly in Delhi metro. Others lamented the increasing frequency of such clashes in Indian metros, attributing them to the high stress and frustration among commuters.
The BMRCL is investigating the incident and seeking to identify the individuals involved. The fight occurred during peak hours, highlighting the ongoing issue of overcrowding on the metro, particularly on the Purple Line, which serves many IT professionals in east Bengaluru.
