Dr Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar has turned hazardous due to unplanned white-topping work by BBMP and BWSSB, causing a spike in accidents and injuries over the past two months. On Wednesday, a 70-year-old man died after falling on the dug-up stretch and being run over by a KSRTC bus. Just days earlier, 28-year-old techie BG Manjunath suffered critical injuries after his scooter hit a roadside pipe. At least a dozen others have been injured navigating the unsafe road.

Traffic police blame BBMP and BWSSB for failing to coordinate with them and ignoring safety protocols, while local residents call the area a “death trap.” A criminal case has been registered against unnamed officials and the contractor from Mangaluru. Officials say the contractor has now been told to expedite the work, but locals demand accountability.
