Bengaluru: A video showing a man confronting an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly urinating on a footpath in a residential area of Bengaluru has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread debate over civic responsibility and public hygiene.
The clip, shared on X by the account Ghar Ke Kalesh, shows the man stopping the driver after allegedly catching him urinating on a clean footpath.
Driver confronted over public urination
In the video, the auto driver is seen carrying a bottle of water, which he pours over the spot before returning to his vehicle. However, the man filming the incident continues to question him, saying pouring water does not justify relieving himself in a public place.
The man is heard reprimanding the driver for allegedly urinating in front of residential houses despite knowing it was prohibited.
He also asks the driver for his name, to which he replies, “Nagaraj.”
The person recording the video further claims that the police had been called and that the driver would be fined for the alleged violation.
Video sparks online reactions
The video has drawn strong reactions on social media, with many users condemning public urination and praising the individual for confronting the driver instead of ignoring the incident.
Others highlighted the need for better public sanitation facilities while stressing that maintaining cleanliness in residential neighbourhoods is a shared civic responsibility.
The exact date and location of the incident could not be independently verified, and it remains unclear whether the driver was ultimately fined by the police.
Civic responsibility in focus
The incident has once again reignited conversations about public hygiene, civic behaviour and the need for greater awareness about keeping Bengaluru’s streets and public spaces clean.
Authorities have repeatedly urged citizens to use designated public toilets and avoid actions that compromise sanitation and public health.
