A missing person investigation in Bengaluru‘s Rajanukunte police limits has led to the arrest of a woman and her alleged lover for the murder of her husband, whose body was later recovered from a burial site near a lake in Linganahalli, close to Hesaraghatta.
The deceased has been identified as Abhijit Pandit (25), a native of West Bengal and a security guard by profession.
Affair allegedly led to murder
Police arrested Pandit’s wife, Archana Chauhan (21), a native of Uttar Pradesh, and her alleged lover, Parul Pal (26), a security guard from Tripura.
According to investigators, Archana and Pal became acquainted while working in the same locality and later developed a relationship. When Pandit allegedly discovered the affair and objected to it, tensions escalated.
The couple had been married for three years after a relationship prior to marriage.
Body buried near lake
Police said that on May 27, Pandit was allegedly consuming alcohol with Pal and two of his associates when he was strangled with a rope.
The accused then allegedly buried his body near a lake in Linganahalli to conceal the crime.
Later the same night, Archana approached police and filed a missing person complaint, allegedly in an attempt to divert suspicion.
Investigation uncovers plot
During the investigation, police questioned Pal after noticing inconsistencies in his statements.
On June 2, following sustained interrogation, Pal allegedly confessed to the murder and revealed the location where the body had been buried. Investigators also found Archana’s alleged involvement in planning the crime.
Police recovered the body and registered a murder case.
Search on for two more accused
Authorities said two other suspects who allegedly assisted in the murder and disposal of the body remain absconding.
Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused. Further investigation into the case is continuing.
