Bengaluru police have taken into custody the separated wife and relatives of tech professional Atul Subhash, who ended his life in an alleged harassment case. Subhash’s wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family members were named in his 24-page note accusing them of relentless torment.

Nikita, an employee at Accenture, was apprehended in Gurugram, Haryana, while her mother Nisha and brother Anurag were detained in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning. They were transported to Bengaluru, presented in court, and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.

The Bengaluru police had earlier issued a summons to Nikita on December 13, giving her three days to comply. Subhash, a 34-year-old AI expert, died by suicide on December 9, leaving a detailed suicide note, a 90-minute video, and a checklist outlining alleged harassment by his wife and her family.

His note revealed a series of legal disputes, including accusations of murder, dowry harassment, and unnatural offenses. Notably, Nikita had claimed her father died from shock due to a Rs 10 lakh dowry demand, a claim later retracted under cross-examination.

Subhash also alleged his wife demanded Rs 2 lakh monthly maintenance on behalf of their child, later escalating her demands to Rs 3 crore. Following public outrage, police filed an FIR under sections 108 and 3(5) of the BNS Act, based on a complaint by Subhash’s brother.

Nikita and her family filed anticipatory bail in Allahabad High Court shortly after receiving the police summons.
