Bengaluru: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband following a heated argument over a financial dispute in the Nagasandra area of north Bengaluru, police said.
The accused, identified as Dhariyappa, has been arrested in connection with the incident. The victim, Kavya, died after being allegedly assaulted during the altercation.
Dispute over ₹2 lakh
According to sources from the Peenya police station, the couple had an argument on Thursday over ₹2 lakh that had been set aside for household expenses. Police said Dhariyappa intended to give the money to his brother, which led to a disagreement between the couple.
The argument reportedly escalated into violence, during which he allegedly assaulted his wife.
Alleged assault led to death
Investigators said that during the altercation, Dhariyappa allegedly stepped on Kavya’s neck, resulting in her death. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following a post-mortem examination.
Police officials described the incident as a case of domestic violence that turned fatal.
Children were not present
The couple has two children—a son studying in Class 10 and a daughter in junior college. Police said both children were away from home at the time of the incident.
Authorities added that the accused remained in the house with the body for nearly two hours before informing the police.

Dhariyappa was subsequently taken into custody by the police. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the full sequence of events.
