A tragic incident occurred in Bengaluru’s Koramangala area on July 23, where 24-year-old Kriti Kumari from Bihar was brutally murdered in her paying guest (PG) accommodation. The man accused of this heinous crime, identified as Abhishek, has been arrested in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He is now being brought back to Bengaluru for further investigation, according to the Bengaluru Police.
On July 23, the assailant reportedly sneaked into the PG accommodation and fatally attacked Kriti Kumari. Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident, released on Friday, shows the assailant entering the corridor with a polythene bag, knocking on the door, and forcibly dragging Kriti Kumari out. Despite her resistance, she was overpowered, and the attacker slit her throat before fleeing the scene.

Police sources revealed that Kriti Kumari had been staying with another woman who had recently moved out, possibly to stay with her boyfriend. On the night of the murder, the former roommate returned to the PG, which led to suspicions that the assailant believed Kriti Kumari might have been involved in this change.
The Bengaluru Police have formed three dedicated teams to expedite the investigation. Commissioner Dayanand informed NDTV that the investigation is progressing swiftly. Meanwhile, additional Commissioner of Police Raman Gupta confirmed that Kriti Kumari, a tech industry worker from Bihar, was murdered in her PG accommodation.
Koramangala Police Inspector Nataraj stated that a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered and the investigation is ongoing. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and inspecting the crime scene to trace the events leading up to the murder. The accused, who fled shortly after the incident, is now in custody, and efforts are underway to further investigate the case.
