Amid the buzz of Deepika Padukone’s special appearance at Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Bengaluru, one attendee, Tanisha Sabherwal, shared a distressing account of how the event turned into a heated “Kannada language row”.
Sabherwal posted on X (formerly Twitter), recounting a disturbing incident where a woman pushed her and verbally abused her after she politely asked her to move aside. According to Sabherwal, the situation worsened when her friend intervened to defend her. The woman, angered by the confrontation, twisted her friend’s arm and threatened them both with police action. Sabherwal, who had recorded the altercation, expressed her disbelief at the escalation.
In her post, she wrote, “I never thought I’d say this, but BANGALORE WILL COLLAPSE soon because of this language issue,” referring to the rising tensions over the use of Kannada in the city. She detailed how the situation became more volatile as the woman aggressively spoke casteist remarks, while Sabherwal continued recording the exchange.
Fortunately, despite the tense situation, many bystanders intervened to support Sabherwal, advising the woman to calm down and not escalate the conflict further. The incident has sparked conversations around the growing issue of language-related tensions in the city, highlighting the challenges faced by newcomers and outsiders.
