Anticipating a victory for the INDIA bloc in the ongoing Lok Sabha Election 2024, women in Bengaluru have flocked to the usually quiet General Post Office to open India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) accounts. They are eager to secure a monthly stipend of Rs 8,500 promised by the opposition alliance if it comes to power at the Centre.

Despite the elections still being underway, a significant number of women, primarily from the minority community, have been queuing up outside the post office in recent days to open accounts and benefit from the scheme proposed by the Congress.

Videos captured long lines of women, many wearing burqas and niqabs (face veils), outside the Bengaluru General Post Office from early morning, aiming to open an IPPB account, which they believe will ensure they receive Rs 8,500 per month.
