Femme Music, India’s only independent record label dedicated exclusively to female artistes, is set to launch a new live event series titled Femme Power, aimed at celebrating and amplifying women in music across genres.
The inaugural edition will feature performances by label co-founder, producer and engineer Sanoli Chowdhury, Mumbai-based multi-disciplinary artiste Ro Maiti, and Chennai-bred singer-songwriter Sahana Naresh.
A platform beyond performances
For Sanoli Chowdhury, the event marks both a personal and professional milestone. Performing with a band for the first time, she plans to debut songs from her upcoming EP, offering audiences an exclusive preview of music that represents a new creative direction.
She described Femme Power as more than a concert series, calling it a movement designed to create greater visibility and opportunities for women in the predominantly male-dominated music industry.
Blending tradition and innovation
Sahana Naresh’s performance will combine Indian classical influences with modern electronic sounds. Her set promises multilingual indie-pop, live violin, raag-inspired melodies and electronic production.
Audiences can expect tracks such as Chasin’ Light, Raat Kate, and new material from her forthcoming EP, which blends Hindustani music with electronic and drum-and-bass elements.
Sahana also highlighted the growing presence of women across various aspects of the music industry, including production, festival curation, tour management and community-building.
A raw and immersive musical experience
Ro Maiti will present a dynamic set featuring original compositions, unreleased material and a tribute cover song. Her performance will journey through jazz, soul and rhythmic grooves before building to an energetic climax.
Adding to the experience, live visuals and VJ performances will accompany the music, creating an immersive atmosphere for audiences.
With Femme Power, Femme Music hopes to create a lasting platform that not only showcases talent but also strengthens the voice and visibility of women shaping India’s independent music landscape.
