A delegation of Bihar’s Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) officials visited the model gram panchayats of Gudpalli and Duphatmahagao in Aurad taluk, Bidar district, on Thursday and Friday. These villages were recipients of the Gandhu Gram award for 2022-23 and have been recognized for their exemplary development initiatives.
The visit aimed to facilitate knowledge sharing and provide Bihar officials with insights into successful projects that could be replicated. The team observed various facilities, including WiFi connectivity, community gardens, wheelchairs for individuals with disabilities, projectors, and Karnataka One centers. They also explored the villages’ infrastructure, such as well-maintained anganwadis and RO water units installed in schools.
Aurad taluk executive officer Manikrao Patil highlighted that a mini stadium, equipped with volleyball and basketball courts, was constructed under the MGNREGA scheme. He also noted the commitment to cleanliness in public spaces. Shivakumar Ghante, executive officer of Kamalnagar taluk, praised the panchayat development officers for their role in earning accolades from the prime minister and chief minister.
A notable achievement, the Amrut Sarovar project, has significantly boosted groundwater levels within a 2 km radius. Additionally, children’s parks with boating facilities and ornamental plantations near lakes further enhance the villages’ charm.
Sujeet Kumar, a Bihar block panchayat raj officer, expressed admiration, saying, “These initiatives are outstanding examples of water conservation and village development. The transformation is truly inspiring.”
