Anthony Klor, the founder of Catoff Gaming, experienced a disturbing incident during his hiring process in Bengaluru after relocating from San Francisco. Sharing his ordeal on social media platform X, Klor posted a screenshot of his WhatsApp messages with a job applicant who reacted abusively to rejection.

The screenshot revealed the applicant’s hostile messages, including offensive remarks about Klor’s mother. The exchange began with Klor questioning, “Should I call your mother and apologize?” The applicant responded aggressively, “You should call your mother and apologize to her for giving u birth.” Klor’s subsequent inquiry, “So are you still interested in the job?” was met with a vulgar reply.

Klor captioned his post with, “Sometimes job candidates in India don’t take rejection very well…” The post quickly garnered attention, amassing 479.3K views, over 2,000 likes, and 300 replies.

Responses varied, with some sympathizing with Klor, while others questioned the context of his remarks. Comments included, “It means, ‘thanks for considering me, but I’m not qualified to work as a professional,’” and “Give away his credentials. He is not fit to work anywhere.” Conversely, others criticized Klor’s approach, with remarks like, “No recruiter has told me ‘Should I call your mother and apologize’ as well. This is not the entire story.”

The incident highlights the challenges and complexities of cross-cultural professional interactions and the importance of maintaining professionalism in all circumstances.
