BENGALURU: A Bengaluru resident took to social media to express disappointment after Urban Company allegedly canceled his service request when he insisted on communication in Kannada. The man had booked a bathroom cleaning service but found that the workers spoke only in other languages. Despite his repeated requests for Kannada, communication remained difficult. Eventually, the company canceled his booking, leaving him frustrated.
In his post on X, he questioned why Kannada, the state’s official language, was not prioritized for basic services in Karnataka. He emphasized that he was polite throughout but was met with indifference.
Urban Company responded with an apology, stating that customer satisfaction is their priority and promising to work on language inclusion. However, the incident has sparked discussions on linguistic identity and service accessibility in Bengaluru.
