Rachana Chamber celebrates International Women's Day

Mangaluru: The Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a unique program for women. International Women’s Day celebration was held on March 12, Sunday evening at Mangalore Club.

Glady Alvares, Sharon D’Souza and Salomi Deepa Lobo spoke about their journey as women entrepreneurs n professionals. Divya D’Souza of M D’Souza & Sons was the chief guest. She spoke about her journey from being a corporate to a woman entrepreneur.

There were 23 other Women entrepreneurs who were invited as special guests. These were achievers in their own field. From aged 75 years of age to just in the late twenties from various fields. These were recognised and a memento was presented to each of them.

The program began with a prayer song. Rachana secretary Lavina Monteiro welcomed the gathering on behalf of the president. Treasurer Eulalia D’Souza was the convener and moderator of the programme. Vincent Cutinha, president of Rachana in his message mentioned that women play an important role in the family n society.

Rachana Chamber celebrates International Women's DayMarjorie Texera introduced Divya D’Souza to the gathering. Divya D’Souza in her message mentioned that a woman can achieve what she does with the support of a man. In her case initially her father and then her father-in-law.  There were almost 50 women present for the programme. In all, the programme was well appreciated by many. Joint secretary Philip Pereira proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting ended with fellowship and dinner
