Sameera Fernandes joins Advisory Board of NewsKarnataka

Mangaluru: Keeping abreast with the times, true leadership is defined by encouraging a culture of diversity and inclusion and integrating it within the DNA of its business. Aligned with this, NewsKarnataka – the venture of Spearhead Media is proud to announce the newest member of their Advisory Board; Sameera Fernandes. In this role, Sameera will work with other distinguished advisors to further the organisation’s goal of empowering today’s generation of leaders across the global community.

The Advisory Board with eminent veterans from diverse creative fields is responsible for bringing industry insights and global best practices that can be incorporated into the strategic functioning of News Karnataka as an established media player across the global community. Currently, the news portal spans across 60 countries with over 3.5 lakh subscribers.

Sameera has an established career in marketing, communications and partnerships with over 20 years of international experience with companies that include Sun Microsystems, Nokia, Al Ghurair, Paris Gallery, St. Francis College and others.

On joining the NewsKarnataka Advisory Board, Sameera Fernandes said, “I strongly believe that contributing to the education and empowerment of young leaders of today is the best way to make your expertise and experience count. I am delighted to collaborate with News Karnataka in nurturing creative minds and empowering thought leaders towards global leadership”.

Born and raised in Doha, Qatar, Sameera then completed her Masters in Corporate Communication from the Manipal Institute of Communication, MAHE. She then went on to establish herself in the UAE for over 15 years in various senior roles liaising with Government officials and industry captains in various public policy advisory roles. She is currently a Research Scholar in the field of thought leadership in the corporate world. Apart from being a Certified Change Management practitioner & Strategic Communications professional UK and the host of The Sfactor Talk Show, she is also the Director of Ecosol Global. Presently, she is on the Managing Committee of the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) and part of the Leadership Pillar of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Indian Women’s Network (IWN).

She was the former Director- Strategy at St. Francis College and also the Head of Communications & Corporate Affairs at Al Ghurair, UAE. She relocated to India in 2016 and has been a consultant to many companies. Other roles include VP-Corporate Relations, Overseas Women’s Club, Director at the Indian Economic Trade Organisation, GSSF Ventures and others. Apart from the woman conferred with the Nirbhaya Award in 2018, Sameera was awarded the Woman of Influence Award by the Archbishop Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Ambassador for Societal Change by the Food and Distribution Ministry, ‘Ethical Journalism Award’ from the Bangalore Press Club Award and others. She is also the author of two books in the field of Education and a biography, released by the former Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan.

NewsKarnataka.com founded in 2012 is an English web news portal and the most preferred website of Kannadigas across the globe. It is Spearhead Media Group’s flagship media subsidiary that is today marching towards its decennial year.
