Hyderabad-based digital entertainment company Chai Bisket is set to launch Chai Shots, India’s first regional short-series OTT platform, at an event scheduled for 8 December at 9 am at Park Hyatt, Hyderabad. The new platform aims to reshape regional content consumption by offering high-quality, short-format storytelling tailored to younger audiences.
A new OTT platform for quick, engaging regional content
Designed for viewers who prefer short, compelling narratives, Chai Shots plans to release over 100 original shows, primarily in Telugu, within the first six months of its early-access rollout. The platform seeks to meet the growing demand for quick yet immersive entertainment experiences, especially among urban youth and mobile-first consumers.
Company founders Sharath Chandra and Anurag Reddy said the platform represents the next stage of Chai Bisket’s evolution, combining creative experimentation with regional storytelling rooted in contemporary culture.
Chai Bisket’s journey to becoming a regional powerhouse
Since its founding in 2015, Chai Bisket has grown into one of India’s most influential regional digital media brands. With more than two billion cumulative views across its YouTube channels and content platforms, the company reaches over 50 million monthly video views and employs a team of more than 100 professionals.
The brand has become synonymous with youth-oriented Telugu content, known for humour, cultural relatability and strong storytelling across short films, web content and branded entertainment.
High-profile launch event with industry leaders
The Chai Shots launch will feature an impressive lineup of guests from the entertainment and startup ecosystem, including:
- Rana Daggubati – actor and entrepreneur
- Ravi – producer, Mythri Movie Makers
- Nandan Reddy – co-founder, Swiggy
- Rishikesh – co-founder, Rapido
- Phanindra Sama – founder, RedBus
- Rohit Chennamaneni – co-founder, Darwinbox
Their presence underscores the growing convergence between digital entertainment, technology and startup innovation in India’s regional markets.
A boost for regional OTT innovation
With growing demand for regional content and increased smartphone penetration, industry analysts say platforms such as Chai Shots could significantly expand the reach of short-format storytelling. The focus on Telugu originals aligns with rising viewership trends in the South Indian OTT segment, where audiences increasingly seek fast-paced, culturally rooted narratives.
Chai Bisket’s move comes at a time when major OTT players are also investing in regional programming, indicating a broader shift toward diverse storytelling formats and linguistic inclusion.
The platform’s launch is expected to mark a new chapter for India’s regional entertainment industry, offering creators new opportunities and audiences a fresh catalogue of binge-worthy short-series content.
