IT major Infosys has postponed online assessment tests and in-person evaluations for more than 20,000 job applicants after detecting multiple instances of impersonation and assessment-related malpractice during its recruitment process.

The deferment affects candidates applying for Specialist Programmer (Trainee) and Digital Specialist Engineer (Trainee) roles.

Hiring assessments put on hold

In a communication to candidates, Infosys informed applicants that the scheduled assessments had been deferred and that revised dates would be announced once a new evaluation plan is finalised.

The company said it had introduced additional safeguards and verification measures to maintain the integrity of its hiring process.

Company says hiring plans remain unchanged

Confirming the decision, Infosys stated that both the online hiring examination and in-person evaluations for the affected roles have been postponed. However, the company emphasised that the move would not impact its overall recruitment commitments.

Officials said the organisation remains focused on identifying, hiring and nurturing top talent despite the temporary disruption.

Strong focus on campus recruitment

Infosys continues to be one of India’s largest campus recruiters, hiring from around 300 to 400 colleges annually. The company added more than 20,000 freshers during FY26 and has indicated a similar hiring target for FY27.

The firm’s screening process is conducted through its digital learning platform, Springboard, which has reportedly reached more than 15 million learners, including students, employees, educators and community members.

Recruitment challenges in digital hiring

The company had earlier shifted from a fully virtual recruitment model to a hybrid approach that combines online and in-person evaluations.

Infosys has previously highlighted challenges associated with virtual hiring, including fake profiles, impersonation, technical issues and difficulties in accurately assessing candidates.

During FY26, the company received 5.8 million job applications, interviewed 4,50,901 candidates and extended offers to 87,286 applicants, excluding its subsidiaries.
