Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) had a record-breaking week in February, achieving its highest-ever passenger and flight traffic since opening in 2008.

On February 23, KIA saw 1,29,466 passengers in a single day, surpassing its daily average of 1,18,000. Four days later, on February 27, it hit an all-time high with 795 air traffic movements (ATMs), marking a major milestone.

To improve efficiency, KIA is constructing the Western Crossfield Taxiway (WCT), expected to be operational by early 2027. The new taxiways will enhance runway circulation, optimize aircraft movement, and cut taxi times, especially for flights at Terminal 1.

Meanwhile, three full-body scanners have been installed at Terminal 2, but their activation awaits regulatory approvals. To reduce queues, KIA has introduced the ‘BLR Pulse’ app, offering real-time navigation updates to streamline passenger movement.
