Reports suggesting that smartphone maker OnePlus could cease operations in the United States and Europe have sparked widespread discussion, with the move reportedly linked to a broader corporate restructuring at its parent company, Oppo.
According to a Bloomberg report, the transition could begin as early as this week. However, neither OnePlus nor Oppo has officially confirmed the reported plans.
Report links move to Oppo restructuring
The report states that Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications Corporation Ltd., the parent company of OnePlus, is undertaking a major organisational overhaul.
As part of the reported restructuring, OnePlus is expected to discontinue operations in the US and European markets while continuing to serve customers in China. The report further claims that the company’s withdrawal could extend to other overseas markets, including India, during 2027.
It also suggests that Realme may reportedly exit the Chinese market as part of the same restructuring exercise. These claims remain unverified by the companies involved.
Upcoming OnePlus smartphones remain in pipeline
Despite the reports, OnePlus continues to prepare several new smartphone launches.
The much-awaited OnePlus 16 is expected to debut later this year with flagship specifications, including a high-refresh-rate OLED display, a large battery and Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon processor.
The company has also teased the arrival of the OnePlus N6x in India through a promotional microsite, although launch details and specifications are yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, leaks suggest that development is underway for the OnePlus Ace 7 series, OnePlus 16R, and OnePlus Nord 7, with the devices expected to feature upgraded processors, improved displays and faster charging technologies.
No official confirmation yet
At present, OnePlus has not issued any statement regarding reports of its alleged exit from international markets. The company also continues to promote upcoming products across multiple regions, including India.
Industry observers expect greater clarity once the company or its parent firm responds to the reports. Until then, the claims regarding a phased shutdown remain speculative.
