While Meta is firing employees in India, Apple sees growing success

The tech world witnessed a whirlwind of announcements last week, with key players like Apple, Meta, and Microsoft making waves. Apple made its mark in India, securing a spot among the top five most valuable companies. Meanwhile, Meta revealed it would be laying off around 3,600 employees, citing a shift toward stricter performance standards under Mark Zuckerberg’s leadership.

Infosys, on the other hand, is gearing up to roll out pay hikes beginning in February. Realme launched two new smartphones with innovative cold-sensitive technology, while Noise introduced India’s first universal smart tag.

Apple’s success in India comes on the back of increased local manufacturing efforts, with the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max being produced here, along with a growing AirPods component base.

At Microsoft, employees in India are safe from the latest job cuts, as the company reassured that its India operations would remain unaffected by recent layoffs aimed at boosting performance across global departments. In another development, Google and Apple removed the offline navigation app MAPS.Me following a government directive over incorrect boundary depictions of India.

The tech industry is clearly in flux, with companies like Apple continuing to expand in India, while Meta and Microsoft adjust their strategies to maintain growth.
