Mangaluru: Volunteering is a wonderful tendency to help others for the cause of humanity, without any pressure or motivation, opined Dakshina Kannada District Indian Red Cross Society Youth Red Cross Coordinator Sachet Suvarna.
He delivered a special lecture at the Orientation Program for Red Cross students, jointly organized by the Youth Red Cross units of Mangalore University and University College Mangaluru at the Ravindra Kalabhavana here on Wednesday. “Red Cross, the international organization founded by Henry Durant is celebrating 100 years of existence. We should learn to be happy in serving without any expectations. Students can develop personal skills and respond to society through the Red Cross.”
The chief guest, Mangalore University Red Cross Nodal Officer Dr Ganapathy Gowda spoke of the Red Cross as a social facet which teaches valuable lessons of non-discrimination, neutrality, freedom, volunteerism and universality. In his presidential address, Principal Dr A Harisha wished the best for young and energetic Red Cross unit of the college.
University College Youth Red Cross Officer Dr Kumaraswamy M welcomed the guests. Mangalore University NSS Officer Dr K A Nagarathna was present among others. Pranam Shetty compered the occasion, Youth Red Cross Student Secretary Nishanth Kumar was present.
