Chamarajanagar: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that he has instructed the deputy commissioner to arrange employment for the family members of the victims of the oxygen tragedy during the Covid-19 pandemic. Addressing the media after a meeting in Chamarajanagar, Siddaramaiah stated, “We are committed to ensuring justice for those who lost their lives due to the oxygen shortage at the district hospital three years ago. They should not have to seek euthanasia. The district administration has been instructed to promptly address their concerns.”
Following this directive, Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag convened a meeting with the victims’ families, informing them that they were to be employed as outsourced workers at the Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS). However, the families expressed their opposition, explaining that returning to work at the hospital where they lost their loved ones would be emotionally challenging. They requested permission to continue their current jobs, as relocating to CIMS from their homes in Kollegal, Gundlupet, and Hanur would impose significant hardship on their dependents.
