Chikkaballapur taluk is poised for significant tourism development, with Nandigiridhama and Isha Yoga Center already attracting visitors. In a major step forward, the Department of Archaeology is considering proposals to declare 9 historical sites in the district as ‘protected monuments’.
These sites include Nandikote, Kalyani, Veeragallu, Bhoga Nandeeswara Temple, Venkataramana Temple, Lakshminarasimhaswamy Temple, and others. The State Archaeology Department has identified these monuments based on their historical significance, and declaring them protected will ensure their preservation and monitoring of activities around them.
Out of 200 proposals submitted statewide, 9 sites in Chikkaballapur district are under consideration. The Bhoga Nandishwara temple complex is already a protected monument, and now efforts are being made to protect the surrounding sites as well. Manchanabale Kalyani, a historical Kalyani, has been cleaned up by authorities and villagers, and legislators and historians have been demanding the protection of hero stones in the district.
Declaring these sites as protected monuments will not only preserve history but also attract tourists from outside districts. History researchers will be eager to study these monuments further. The new tourism policy also focuses on developing tourist spots in the district, which is strategically located near Bangalore and Devanahalli International Airport.
Conscious citizens believe that protected monuments are crucial in attracting more tourists to the district, leading to significant tourism development in Chikkaballapur taluk.
