Chikkamagaluru police are investigating the tragic deaths of a young couple from Bengaluru, whose bodies were discovered in Dasarahalli village under suspicious conditions.
The deceased man, Madhu, a car driver from Bhadravati, Shivamogga, had known Poornima, a private school teacher from Magadi, for years. They shared close ties with each other’s families and often stayed in touch.
On Wednesday evening, Madhu picked up Poornima after school, claiming he would drop her off at a nearby village. Instead, he drove her to Chikkamagaluru, where authorities believe he strangled her. The exact location of her death remains under investigation.
Following the murder, Madhu was spotted wandering inside a coffee plantation before parking his car a kilometer from the main road. He was later found hanging from a tree, reportedly using Poornima’s veil.
Police suspect that Madhu’s actions were driven by unreciprocated romantic feelings. Investigators are examining multiple aspects, including the timeline of Poornima’s death, possible involvement of a third party, and forensic evidence to confirm the sequence of events.
A case has been registered at Chikkamagaluru Rural police station, while both grieving families await further clarity.
