Chikkamagaluru: The state BJP should be made free from the clutches of father and sons and should move forward under collective leadership, said its expelled leader KS Eshwarappa.
Addressing reporters here on Thursday, Eshwarappa stated that while the BJP used to follow collective leadership earlier, it is now under the influence of a father and his sons. The party should once again move forward under collective leadership, which is the wish of many senior leaders and party workers, he said.
Eshwarappa mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to end dynasty politics in the Congress, whereas in Karnataka, the BJP is under the immense influence of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his sons.
He claimed that the BJP high command is under the delusion that whatever BS Yediyurappa says is true, but in reality, it is not. This needs to be brought to the notice of the party high command in Delhi. That is why he went against the party and contested the recently concluded Lok Sabha election as an independent candidate from Shivamogga, he said.
If the party is not purified and freed from the influence of BS Yediyurappa and his sons, the party will soon have no presence in the state. Eshwarappa asserted that he is engaging in honest politics while BS Yediyurappa is engaging in selfish politics. He also noted that there is no meaning to the word ‘expel’ in the party, hence he called upon party workers to join hands with him to cleanse the party.
