A shocking incident of burglary and assault has rocked the town of Challakere in Chitradurga district as three thieves broke into the home of teacher B. Eranna late on Saturday night. The gang entered by breaking the back door, attacking the occupants with a knife before stealing cash amounting to ₹25,000, along with gold and silver articles valued at ₹3.95 lakh.
Eranna and his wife were admitted to the government hospital following the vicious attack. According to Eranna, when his wife screamed upon seeing the intruders, she was beaten on her left leg with a stick. Subsequently, both were tied up with a dhoti and towel as the robbers ransacked their residence.
During this traumatic event, Eranna recounted being held at knifepoint before being physically assaulted by members of this brazen gang.
District Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar Meena, alongside DySP T.B. Rajanna, visited the site of this harrowing occurrence, offering solace to those affected.
In response to these events, SP Meena stated, “Three special teams have been formed to trace the robbers.”
Moreover, PSI Dharappa Balappa Doddamani shared that a case has been registered in connection with this egregious crime.
