Doha: Ms Aparna Sharath has created history by becoming the first woman from the Tulunadu region of Karnataka to receive the Nari Shakti Samman, one of the Government of India’s most prestigious recognitions for women. The honour was conferred by the Indian Embassy in Qatar during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations held in Doha, marking a proud moment for the region and the Indian diaspora.
Ms Aparna Sharath was felicitated as one among only 12 Indian women selected for the honour during the celebrations, in recognition of her outstanding community service, leadership, and sustained efforts to empower Indians living overseas. The award acknowledges her significant role in strengthening people-to-people ties and contributing to closer India–Qatar relations.
