“True love isn’t found. It’s built—patiently, passionately, and prayerfully.”
Cincinnati, Ohio: In a world where fleeting relationships often make headlines, one extraordinary couple is making history, not for breaking vows, but for keeping them. Today, Harold and Dancy D’Souza celebrate a profound milestone: 31 years, 372 months, and 11,323 days of love, laughter, and legacy. Their story isn’t just about marriage, it’s a movement inspiring generations to choose resilience over resentment, growth over giving up, and faith over fear.
Through storms and sunshine, this incredible couple Harold and Dancy D’Souza rose from slavery to strength, founding Eyes Open International to fight human trafficking across the globe.
What began as an arranged marriage in India in 1994 has blossomed into a healthy, happy, and harmonious union that has become a beacon of hope for couples across continents. For Harold, the essence of marriage isn’t glamour or grandeur, it’s internal beauty. “The foundation of our relationship is not built on what meets the eye but what touches the soul,” says Harold. “Marriage is about seeing God in each other, especially in tough times.”
Harold lovingly adds, “Behind every cheerful man is a cool, understanding, caring, loving, and charming lady, and in my life, that lady is Dancy D’Souza.”
The journey of this powerful pair wasn’t always smooth. The D’Souza’s faced trials that would have torn most families apart, deception, human trafficking, poverty, pain, and prejudice. But through it all, their faith in God, family, and each other served as their compass. Rising from a life of slavery to strength, Harold and Dancy today are not only survivors but global advocates. As Co-Founders of Eyes Open International, a U.S.-based non-profit, they lead a global mission to end human trafficking, with compassion rooted in lived experience.
Their greatest joy, Bradly and Rohan D’Souza, two “ordinary boys doing extraordinary work.” Bradly, a dedicated and passionate member of Tesla, contributes to innovations under the visionary leadership of Elon Musk. Rohan, based in New York, is a tennis professional and an emerging changemaker.
From childhood, Harold and Dancy instilled in them the values that truly matter: Character, Education, Faith, Love, Respect, and Compassion.
“We believe raising children is not an expense, it’s an investment. We didn’t focus on the fruits, we focused on the roots,” says Harold.
The couple’s parenting philosophy is simple yet powerful: “Look, Listen, Learn, Live, Love, and Laugh with your kids.” This humble approach helped shape their sons into young men with purpose, passion, and poise.
Harold shares, “I have learnt more from Bradly and Rohan than they’ve learnt from me, just by listening, sharing, and spending time together.”
But the legacy doesn’t stop there. Harold reverently acknowledges the power of parental blessings in shaping his life and marriage. He proudly remembers his late father, Henry D’Souza, whose love, guidance, and principles remain alive in every decision he makes. “I respect, regard, and reward my father’s legacy every single day,” Harold says, his voice filled with emotion.
The D’Souza family’s odyssey from suffering to significance is not just their testimony, it’s a global teaching tool. Their unwavering bond serves as a living example to today’s generation: Divorce is not the answer. Dedication is. They advocate not just for marriage, but for meaningful marriage, rooted in faith, forgiveness, and friendship.
As the world celebrates this extraordinary anniversary, Harold and Dancy continue to build a future anchored in values and vision. Through their nonprofit, family, and faith, they remain relentless in their mission to inspire hope where others see despair.
As Harold puts it, “If our story can give even one couple a reason to believe again in the power of love, then every tear, every trial, and every triumph has been worth it.”
From the chains of slavery to the chambers of love, the D’Souza family story is not just a celebration of marriage, but a revolution of the heart.
