Mangaluru: The 294th edition of Mandd Sobhann’s popular Monthly Theatre series was held at Kalaangann on June 7, 2026, drawing theatre and music enthusiasts for an evening filled with laughter and entertainment.

The programme showcased a blend of drama and music, reflecting the rich cultural and artistic traditions nurtured by Mandd Sobhann.

Programme inaugurated by Loy Noronha

The event was inaugurated by Loy Noronha, Proprietor of Symphony Music Store, who formally opened the programme by ringing the traditional bell.

Mandd Sobhann President Louis Pinto and Secretary Ronald Crasta were present on the dais during the inaugural ceremony.

Following the brief stage programme, the audience was treated to a lively theatrical performance.

‘Uprantch Kolchem’ evokes laughter

The drama troupe ‘Comedy Company’ staged the comedy play Uprantch Kolchem, written and directed by Nellu Permannur.

The humorous production entertained the audience with its engaging storyline, witty dialogues, and lively performances.

The cast featured Asunta, Sandeep, Lancy, Deepak, Maria, Jasmine, Royston, and Romario, who brought the characters to life with energetic performances.

Music for the play was provided by Raveen Martis, while lighting arrangements were managed by Earl, enhancing the overall theatrical experience.

Musical session adds festive spirit

Following the drama, the audience enjoyed Khushal Sobhaņn, an energetic musical session featuring popular party songs.

The performance was presented by the ‘Maza Mogi’ team led by Alron Rodrigues.

Prominent singers Joyce Ozario, Raina Sequeira, Stephen Cutinha, Shilpa Cutinha, Sunil Monteiro, Rony Arun, Verlyn Goveas, and Verna Dsouza entertained the audience with a selection of lively and melodious songs.

They were accompanied by Kreethan Dsouza, Reinald Lobo, and Aston Dsouza on musical instruments, adding vibrancy to the performance.

Unique presentation style appreciated

The entire programme was compered by Vitori Karkal and Srujana Viva Mathias, who presented the event in a distinctive Akashvani-style format.

Their engaging and nostalgic presentation style added a unique charm to the evening and was well appreciated by the audience.

The successful programme once again highlighted Kalaangann’s role as a vibrant cultural hub promoting Konkani theatre, music, and performing arts while providing a platform for local artists and entertainers.
